I got just a few directions before I started painting this one.
The main goal was to portray the feeling she had while listening to two songs.
(quite the challenge I might add)
The songs being: Secret Garden (duh), and Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol (sweeeeeeeeeeet)

I really wanted to take on this challenge and also do some things I've never really done before.

One of them being painting a detailed background, but I've done that before... so not really new... just..
Something I hardly ever do..

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand
PAINT A BIRD!!! .......yaaaaaaaaay!!

I used millions of references of just about any bird I could find, but narrowing it down it a mix between

- A Chickadee
- A Parakeet (budgie)
- A Dove
- My imagination

Blend that all together and you get a.. : Chickarakeedove??!?!?!

never mind......... :rofl:

I kept on changing little things and colors about every hour.
Couldn't get it to a satisfactory level!!
And then..... the last bit just came...

Thank the heavens for inspiration!!!!!!!! :D

Photoshop & tablet; I didn't really keep time, but I think it was between 50-60 hours....

very beautiful. the skin looks so realistic. But her lower lip looks kinda funky. maybe it's just me but the rest is amazing!!!!

Very pretty! I like the warm, sunset-feel of the colors here. Good job on the little bird-creature - it's a nice mix of the real and fantasy. Her skin tones are very nice too - the blending of the colors is very well done and it has a rich, lustrous (almost oily - but in a good way) appearance. It's important to challenge yourself - it's the only real way to improve your skills and sometimes you'll even surprise yourself along the way.
